Jon Nelson and his #80 team were running the NASCAR Southwest Series 2001 season on a real limited budget. With one car, one motor, and limited manpower there was no room for mishaps.

Bob Molner Racing, sponsored by Wide World of Maps and Cintas Uniforms, had cars and motors but struggled with pulling a team together. After joining forces the newly developed team finished 2nd (after a 29th place start) at Sears Point in June and 3rd at Mesa Marin Raceway the following weekend. A flat tire at Madera and the team had to settle for a 13th place finish, but that put them 3rd in points - a big jump from the 19th points position 3 months and 6 races earlier.

This is the first year Nelson has had the opportunity to run a full season in the Featherlite Southwest Series. The team has three cars and four motors, so they will have a variety of cars to pull from during the season. Though they trail behind two veteran Southwest Series racers in the points, they have the means and drive to be a threat.

There is much excitement in the team as they head for Erie, CO this next week. Nelson loves driving the ‘bullrings’ and the team is ready. With Bob Molner Racing backing the Wide World of Maps car and Jon Nelson driving - the team is headed in a good direction for a podium finish in races to come.
