New Colorado atlas showcasing outdoor recreation now available at Wide World of Maps
PHOENIX, AZ – The most complete atlas of Colorado's drivable roadways, from intersecting Interstates to meandering dirt roads in the back country and recreation information usually found only in guidebooks has been compiled into Colorado Road & Recreation Atlas, now available at Wide World of Maps stores and online at www.maps4u.com.
Published by Benchmark, Colorado Road & Recreation Atlas is stunning in its visual appearance. The Rocky Mountains seem to rise from the page, rivers and creeks flow through canyons, and valleys and lakes nestle in the foothills. Because the cartographers at Benchmark use a very sophisticated landform mapping approach (which they term "Landscape Maps"), it is easy to see what lies ahead. It's a wonderful and unusual experience to be able to look at a map and get a sense of place through its landforms. At a glance the most obvious quality that sets Benchmark atlases apart is the painterly use of color and relief shading which give the maps uncommon depth and texture.
"The Colorado Road & Recreation Atlas is the best product of its kind that we’ve seen,"
says James Willinger, president of Wide World of Maps. "It is a great compliment to our expansive library of travel and topographical maps from throughout the United States and the world."
To produce such a valuable and reliable atlas, Benchmark's field checkers searched for the kind of outdoor recreation people want most — secluded campgrounds, special fishing and hunting areas, historic monuments and landmarks, remote trailheads, new roads, old roads, and every road in between. Designed to meet the needs of the most active outdoor adventure seeker, Benchmark made a special effort to show all the resources and points of interest of the region by combining the road atlas with a detailed recreation guide for trip planning.
A 30-page section of recreation maps and text highlights Colorado's unique assets. Recreation information includes parks, forests and wildlife areas, campgrounds, RV parks, ski areas, 4x4 and snowmobile trails, boating, rafting, and scenic wonders. The recreation maps show public land ownership and identifies game management units and their boundaries.
The Colorado Road & Recreation Atlas offers a clear, readable picture of the complete road network in the Landscape Map section (covering the entire state at three miles to the inch). The color-coded road network effectively distinguishes not only between the main highways and surface roads but also between minor dirt and four-wheel-drive roads. The atlas is further enhanced with a set of metropolitan area maps (Denver, Downtown Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs) to satisfy urban explorers.
