Large Print Phoenix Map Book Is Choice of Pros

Large Scale Metro Atlas
Easier to Read

PHOENIX, AZ – Whether you regularly rely on maps to get around the Valley or are an occasional map user who wants a map that is easier to read, Wide World of Maps of Phoenix has just the map for you, in fact, a whole atlas. The Phoenix Metropolitan Street Atlas Professional Edition for 2008 is now available, and it’s bigger and better than other maps. This atlas has maps that are more than 60% larger scale (size) than a typical street map.  Larger scale maps mean larger print for people who use street maps every day or for anyone needing a full-detail set of maps covering the entire metro area that are just easier to read and easier to use.

The Professional Edition is based on the standard Phoenix Street Atlas, which is popularly referred to as the “Yellow One” for its bright yellow cover.  Think of the Professional Edition as the “Big Yellow One.” It has all the advantages of the standard edition with an important feature that no other Phoenix area street maps have: easy-to-read enlarged pages for many densely populated areas.

The concept for this atlas, which made its debut in 2002, was well researched with customers. According to James Willinger, president of Wide World of Maps, “We needed to respond to the pleas of thousands of map users who called or wrote to us to say that THEY WANTED MAPS WITH LARGER PRINT.”

Out of the 81 standard map pages (each covering 36 square miles), Wide World of Maps found 52 pages met the criterion of needing to be enlarged for further clarity. The pages were divided into quarters (NW, NE, SW, & SE). In some cases, all have enlarged pages, while others only have two or three. Densely populated quarter-pages are enlarged onto full pages, which then follow the original page. Because of these changes, the Professional Edition is much thicker and heavier than the original Phoenix Metropolitan Standard Edition Street Atlas.

New for this year's edition, in addition to updating the maps on all pages, are an additional 36 square miles of full-detail maps. MAP 108 of the East Valley reflects the current and future housing growth in that area. The durability of the cover has also been improved with a new textured laminate material.

As with the original "Yellow One," the Professional Edition includes a handy foldout map in the back of the book showing the entire metropolitan area, and extra map pages show Metro Area Zip Codes, School Districts, and Freeway/Expressway System. Special maps detailing the ASU main campus, Sky Harbor International Airport, downtown Scottsdale, downtown Phoenix, the Phoenix Central Corridor, Maricopa County, and the state of Arizona are also included, all with updated information. As an added bonus, the atlas includes an offer for a free CD-ROM that brings all of these maps to your computer including the comprehensive street index in an easy-to-use format.

The very helpful 66-page alphabetical street index lists the location and map reference to more than 15,000 streets.  Even with all of the improvements, the 2008 Phoenix Metropolitan Street Atlas Professional Edition is keeping the same $34.95 as the last edition and is available now.  Ask for it wherever maps are sold.  It can also be purchased by calling Wide World of Maps in Phoenix at 602-279-2323 or 800-279-7654, or visiting their website at www.maps4u.com.
