Arizona Northwest Road Map (Benchmark)
Benchmark's Recreation Maps were created for outdoor lovers who want the high quality recreation information from the Benchmark Arizona Road & Recreation Atlas but with the convenience of a traditional folding map. Four interlocking, beautiful, and distinctive waterproof maps cover the entire state at six miles to an inch (1:400,000). Complete detail of the public lands and hunting unit boundaries are shown as well as categorized recreation listings. The Arizona Northwest Road Map includes the Grand Canyon, river recreation, historic Route 66, and Oak Creek Canyon.
Ten classes of public land ownership are shown: Military Lands, Indian Lands, US Forest Service, USFS Wilderness, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Land Management, BLM Wilderness, BLM Monument, State Lands, State Parks, Wildlife Areas, and National Parks and Monuments. The map also features game management units and game management regions, with a sidebar of Arizona Game & Fish region office information and license application information.
As a road map it shows limited access highways, four-lane divided highways, primary through highways, secondary through highways, other paved roads, unpaved roads, high clearance or four-wheel drive roads, unclassified roads, and trails. It features interchanges and exit numbers, interstate highways, US highways, state highways, county highways, Indian Land roads, Forest Service roads, Mexican highways, and railroads with tunnels.
The map also provided international boundaries, state boundaries, county names and boundaries, state capitals, county seats, community symbols by relative population, abandoned settlements and railroad sidings, rest areas, points of interest, golf courses, gates, airports with scheduled service, military airfields, and other airports.
For recreationalists the map shows trailheads, campgrounds, ski areas, mountain peaks, mountain passes, spot elevation in feet, rivers, rapids, waterfalls, intermittent streams, drainage tunnels, lakes, intermittent lakes, marshes, springs, and wells.
Five place name indexes complete the package. The Cities and Towns index includes incorporated city populations in parentheses. The other four indexes cover Campgrounds; State and Regional Parks; National Parks, Monuments, and Forests; and Wilderness and Wildlife Areas.
