This is the map of our solar system. Next to each illustrated significant space mission is its name and reference number. The index then provides its name, reference number, sponsoring political entity, date of launch, and what makes it significant.
On the far left side of the map the Real Relative Distances in the Solar System bar shows the main celestial bodies of the solar system in relation to each other as expressed in astronomical units.
On the left side of the map the Celestial Body Chart gives the astronomical symbol, name, significant data, mass, diameter, mean distance from the sun, revolution period as compared to Earth's revolution period (our year), rotation period as compared to Earth's rotation period (our day), temperature, and number of natural satellites for each major celestial body of this solar system. Similar data about our moon (in relation to Earth rather than the sun) is also available. Below the Celestial Body Chart are defintions for various measurement units is in astronomy, URLs for more information on our solar system, and informative text about the minor celestial bodies of this solar system.
The bottom of the map features a timeline covering the key moment of the genesis and discovery of our solar system. Above the timeline is a series of related illustrations. Above the illustrations are a series of associated continental drift maps for the Earth meant to tie into the same timeline.
The top of the map features a series of educational diagrams. From left to right they cover: real relative size of the major celestial bodies of this solar system; solar and lunar eclipses; lunar phases; configuration of the planets to create conjunctions, elongations, quadratures, and oppositions; seasons for the northern and southern hemispheres of Earth; higher and lower flood tides on Earth; meteor storm radiants; layers of Earth's atmosphere; greenhouse effect; diagram of launches from earth falling, entering orbit, or entering space free from gravitational pull; and inner structure diagrams of our sun, Earth, Jupiter, and a comet.
Children's Map of the Solar System will provide children and all those who feel young at heart with a beautifully designed, educational, and playful map. This map is very educational because through concept and illustration some boring facts are presented to children in funnier ways and through illustrations to which children can relate.
A lot of work, effort, and knowledge were put into this map. Experts in history, geology, astronomy, and climatology participated actively in creating a product of the highest possible quality, based on the latest referential literature. A lot of books were read before this map was finished, and hours and hours were spent searching the Internet and contacting the right experts.
The map is drawn by an artist with a unique style. All of the illustrations are hand drawn and every illustration on the map is specially made. The Dino's Map Team has specially discussed each illustration on the map, because they wanted each illustration to tell a different story that would still fully describe the fact presented by the illustration. The background of every map is also hand drawn.
Even when everything was finished, they still checked the map several times all over again in order to avoid any possible mistakes. Such an approach has provided the best in quality for not only the fun part in children's lives, but also of the very important educative part.
